Conceived around plays of balance and tension,Suspendu extends Marie & Alexandre’s exploration on relationships between material, form, and space.

Here, to suspend is to inscribe matter in suspended time: to make it hold while letting it hang, on the threshold between stillness and movement.

This installation, comprising pieces drawn from the Horizon (2022) and Iris (2023) series, is structured through a play of weights and connections, composing a multidimensional landscape punctuated by physical tensions.

Made at the Alain Vagh tile factory in Draguignan using a red clay from Salernes area, the pieces explore the lightness and extraordinary resistance of the material.

The extruded and then shaped forms were fired in monumental kilns and glazed in several layers during different firings, producing varied effects of hues and transparencies, punctuated by glass diffusers cast in Biot by master glassworkers.

This work highlights the athletic properties of ceramics and calls for a bodily experience of the material : to approach, observe, confront it at its own scale.
Conceived as a choreography, the exhibition plays with principles of balance, connec:on and extension.
